If YubiKey Manager or another Yubico configuration software is used to switch the contents of slot 1 and slot 2 after a YubiKey has been configured for Yubico Login for Windows, the YubiKey will not work with Yubico Login for Windows. The Yubikey or any U2F hardware device is portable, whereas TouchID is bound to an Apple laptop. I can use the Yubikey on any other device regardless if it's a Mac, Android(with NFC) or Linux/Windows. Another advantage with using Yubikey is that the private key is store inside and cannot be extracted.
